Children’s Ministry

Welcome to Renewal Kids! We believe that each classroom, from nursery to Sunday School, is a place of learning, sharing and growing in Christ’s love and His Word. We are excited about this ministry and hope your child will become a part of it!

Enroll Your Child

To enroll your child in our Renewal Devon Kids program, please see one of the staff members on Sunday mornings at check-in.

Programs & Curriculum

H8We currently have 7 classes ranging from nursery to 5th grade. Students who are in junior high and above join the parents in the adult service.

The breakdown of classes is as follows:

  • Nursery
  • 2 year olds
  • 3 year olds
  • 4-5 year olds
  • K5-1st grade
  • 2nd-3rd grade
  • 4th-5th grade

We use Great Commission Publications, which operate from a Reformed perspective and seek to reflect the distinctive doctrines of grace. We stand fast on the Scriptures as the only infallible rule of faith and practice. GCP’s theology is based on the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms.

The students will receive a take home called “At Home” to help reinforce the day’s lesson at home. Included in this is a recap of the lesson, simple discussion questions, family activities, and a section just for parents. Consider setting aside one night in the middle of the week to review this page with your child.

Policies & Procedures

Check-in

ChildrenCheck-in will start 15 minutes prior to start of service. A staff member will be at the door each week to greet you. All children must be signed-in and signed-out by a parent.

Sick Policy

Parents are asked to keep their children at home if they have any of the following symptoms or illnesses:

  • Fever greater than 99.0 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Runny Nose
  • Questionable rashes
  • Coughing
  • Diarrhea (exception: if caused by antibiotics)
  • Impetigo
  • Active Chicken Pox
  • Measles
  • Mumps
  • Conjunctivitis (“Pink Eye”)
  • Diagnosed with Rota Virus

Teachers are instructed not to admit sick children into the room. If a child is being treated with antibiotics, he/she should be on the drug for at least 24 hours before attending church.

Promotion Day

Classes begin and end on Promotion Day, which is typically the first Sunday in September. Promotion Day is when children move up into new classes; they are placed in classes by birth date or current grade level and remain there all year, regardless of their turning a year older. This helps maintain consistency in classes. Nursery & toddler children move up throughout the year as they develop but move into Preschool classes on Promotion Day only.
