Vision & Core Values

The vision of Renewal is to ignite a gospel-spreading movement through multiple local congregations by making, maturing, equipping, and deploying followers of Jesus Christ for the renewal of individuals, communities, and cultures.

Renewal Devon plans to accomplish our vision by:

  • Making followers of Jesus by engaging our un-churched classmates, coworkers, neighbors and friends with the winsome hope of the gospel .
  • By equipping followers of Jesus with the resources required to become live a life of missional discipleship.
  • Renewing families in Christ by: Equipping our youth to understand the gospel and encouraging them to embrace a biblical world and life view. Equipping adults to understand their God-given roles in their work and families to be Christ-honoring stewards and disciples. Equipping parents to facilitate a home that is saturated with the gospel in order to shepherd the hearts of their children to love Jesus Christ.
  • Renewing communities, both domestic and foreign, in Christ by: Serving the least and the lost near to us.  Thoughtful engagement with our culture shaped by a biblical world and life view.  Planting churches both at home and abroad.  Partnering with other like-minded groups and sending our own short-term and long-term missionaries.

Who We Are

Gospel – (Romans 1:16)

Receivers of the gospel. The story of the gospel is the lifeblood of Renewal.  We believe that the story of Jesus brings freedom and hope to those who believe it.  It is the living story of a God who brings peace to turmoil and healing to our brokenness caused from the effects of our sin.

Faith – (Romans 1:17)

People living in faith. We believe in living our lives in constant relationship with, and trust in, God.  Because of this, we saturate our live with prayer and live our lives in accordance with the faith-oriented goals that God sets before us.

Transformation – (2 Corinthians 3:18)

Transformed disciples of God. True and lasting change does not occur through our self-initiated efforts to perform better but through extension of a transformation that God has begun in our hearts.  Followers of Jesus are transformed by continually seeing our need of more grace and by trusting in the grace that is being given to us in Christ.

Community – (Ephesians 2:19-22)

Relational community. We follow Jesus as members of a life-on-life community. In addition to our Sunday services, we encourage continual discipleship and accountability so that the gospel may bring us together as one body for the purpose of joining in Jesus’ mission together.

What We Do

Worship – (I Corinthian 10:31)

Worship is the purpose of all that we do.  It is central, not only when we are gathered together, but we desire to worship God in our work, in our leisure and in all that we do.

Discipleship – (Matthew 28:19-20)

There is no more important life endeavor for a Christian than being engaged in making new followers of Jesus Christ and helping in the spiritual formation process of fellow disciples of Christ.

Fellowship – (I John 1:7)

Christians are united to the family of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, which is the church.  Families eat together, pray together, grow together, bear one another’s burdens and share one another’s joys.   We believe that Christians belong together, participate together and give to one another.

Service (Ephesians 4:12)

We live in a world that is full of physical, spiritual and psychological brokenness.  We believe that every Christian has been given natural and spiritual gifts that they are to use in service of those inside and outside of the church.
